Thornberg Construction completed a bathroom remodel and addition on a home in Bellevue, Washington. The project touched two bathrooms: a hallway bathroom that was gutted and replaced, and a primary bathroom that was remodeled and expanded through a small structural addition.
The primary bathroom addition extended the building outward to create additional space for the primary bathroom. That extra footprint made room for a freestanding soaking tub, a curbless tiled shower enclosed in glass, and a wood double vanity topped with a light stone counter and finished with black fixtures throughout. A wall-mounted mirror sits above each sink, and the shower includes a built in bench and a niche for toiletries.
The hallway bathroom was fully gutted and replaced with a new wood double vanity in a different finish, black fixtures, and a glass enclosed shower finished in blue subway tile that runs floor to ceiling. Removing the old fixtures down to the studs and subfloor made room for the new layout and finishes in that space.
On the exterior, Thornberg framed and finished the bump out that created the additional primary bathroom space, matching the siding and trim of the existing home so the addition reads as part of the original structure rather than an obvious add on. The framing and exterior finish work were carried out together with the interior remodel so the new space integrated cleanly with the rest of the house.
Thornberg Construction's scope on this project covered both bathrooms end to end, from the structural work needed to expand the primary bathroom to the framing, siding, and finish work on the exterior addition, plus the full gut and rebuild of the hallway bathroom.
