Thornberg Construction completed a whole-home remodel on a rambler-style house in Kirkland, Washington. The project touched the kitchen, living room, a bathroom, a bedroom, the entry hallway, and the backyard, updating the home from the inside out.
The kitchen was rebuilt with white shaker-style cabinetry, a subway tile backsplash, and a large island topped with white quartz-look countertops, finished with a stainless steel refrigerator, a range hood, and pendant lighting over the island. New wood-look flooring runs from the kitchen through the adjoining hallway, tying the spaces together.
In the living room, Thornberg built a modern linear fireplace into a floating stone-look surround beneath a vaulted ceiling, opening the space up visually to the hallway and staircase beyond. The entry hallway itself was updated with new closet doors and the same wood-look flooring used throughout the main living areas.
One of the home's bathrooms was remodeled with a curbless, step-down tiled shower finished in large-format white wall tile and a dark pebble floor tile, along with a rain shower head. A bedroom in the home was also refreshed with new carpet, a painted accent wall, and its own wall-mounted ductless heating and cooling unit, giving that room independent temperature control apart from the rest of the house.
Outside, Thornberg expanded and rebuilt the backyard deck in composite decking with white railings and a stairway down to the yard, accessed through sliding glass doors off the main living space. The rebuilt deck is large enough for a dining table and a hanging hammock, giving the family real outdoor living space behind the house. The photos here document that work from the existing conditions before the remodel, through the framing and construction stages, to the finished kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, hallway, and deck as they stand today.

The result is a rambler that reads as a cohesive, modern family home rather than a series of disconnected updates.
